Senior Portfolio Manager

40 hours per week, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands


Triple Jump is an impact-focused investment manager that manages and advises several funds in the area of financial inclusion, SME finance, affordable housing, renewable energy and agri. Triple Jump’s mission is to go where investing capital empowers people and improves lives. Triple Jump is headquartered in Amsterdam, and has a strong footprint in the emerging markets with 5 regional offices located in Georgia, Peru, Mexico, Thailand and Kenya. The team consists of over 80 professionals, including 30 different nationalities, with broad field experience and in-depth financial expertise. Triple Jump investment portfolio spans across more than 60 countries.


Triple Jump offers professional asset management services to investors, including asset selection, portfolio management and fund administration. Triple Jump holds an AIFMD license and is regulated by the Dutch Central Bank and the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. Our investor base includes institutional investors, development banks, governments, NGOs, and retail banks, all of whom seek to combine both financial returns with social/environmental impact.


Expectations

As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the management of several fund(s) investing in Micro Finance and/ or Fund of Funds and/or Direct Investments. Your primary responsibility encompasses asset allocation and risk-return management on fund level. This includes monitoring fund liquidity, analysing and steering fund performance and providing on-time and high-quality reporting to relevant stakeholders. In this respect, Portfolio Management's role is to safeguard the interests of our investors/fund sponsors and other stakeholders in response to key fund, macro and liquidity developments. 


The second focus of your role is fundamental (macro and sector) research including identifying fundamental shifts, economic parameters and FX drivers across the countries and sectors that we invest in. This knowledge will assist you with implementing the optimal asset allocation strategy tailored to the fund specifically. Finally, you contribute to developing and improving the investment and other internal processes, tools and templates within Triple Jump and you participate in overall company projects including new business initiatives. You need to have a qualitative and quantitative approach and you are able to run scenario analyses and stress testing of portfolios through various in-house systems.


As a senior member of the team, you will support junior members and represent the department in different internal and external bodies. This includes f.e. the Allocation Committee, which is the first approval body in the Investment Process for new (micro)finance investments across TJ managed funds. Furthermore, Portfolio Managers work closely with several colleagues from other departments within Triple Jump, including Credit Risk & Restructuring Management, Finance, Risk and Investor Relations & Business Development. You will have the opportunity to travel occasionally (post-COVID) and you work in a team of four Professionals, reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management. 


Requirements

Job requirements

  • At least ten years working experience and demonstrable track record in the asset management industry;
  • Experience in the field of microfinance and/or fund-of-funds investment products is an advantage;
  • Master in Finance or relevant discipline;
  • CFA or CAIA certified or willingness to start;
  • Financial modelling expertise;
  • Team player spirit essential, coupled with the ability to work independently and taking the initiative with solution-oriented thinking;
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills - ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings - supporting various forms of external communication, including conference calls, client meetings, portfolio reviews.
