Head of Risk and Control

36-40 hours per week, based in Amsterdam

Triple Jump is an impact-focused investment manager that manages and advises several funds in the area of financial inclusion, SME finance, affordable housing, renewable energy and agri. Triple Jump’s mission is to go where investing capital empowers people and improves lives. Triple Jump is headquartered in Amsterdam, and has a strong footprint in the emerging markets with 5 regional offices located in Georgia, Peru, Mexico, Thailand and Kenya. The team consists of over 90 professionals, including 30 different nationalities, with broad field experience and in-depth financial expertise. The Triple Jump investment portfolio spans across more than 60 countries.

Triple Jump offers professional asset management services to investors, including asset selection, portfolio management and fund administration. Triple Jump holds an AIFMD license and is regulated by the Dutch Central Bank and the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. Our investor base includes institutional investors, development banks, governments, NGOs, and retail banks, all of whom seek to combine both financial returns with social/environmental impact.


Triple Jump is growing its Risk Team and expanding the scope and capacity of the team. Accordingly Triple Jump is looking for an experienced team lead who is willing to build the team and further establish and professionalize the risk & control function within the organization, in close cooperation with internal stakeholders and the executive board. The Risk and Control Team operates in a very dynamic environment, monitoring high-impact illiquid investments in emerging and frontier markets with risk exposures caused by amongst others (exotic) currencies, global interest-rate changes, trade & macro-economic developments and sector-specific events.

Job Description

The purpose of Triple Jump’s Risk Management Framework is to support the institution’s growth ambition while safeguarding its long term sustainability. As Head of Risk & Control, you will manage the Risk & Control Department of Triple Jump, consisting of four other staff members dedicated to financial risk (including credit risk) and operational risk & control. The scope is corporate as well as business risk and control. The Head of Risk & Control is owner of all the risk and control processes and the TJ Risk & Control Framework. This is a new position, in your role, you will also be responsible for the positioning and further development of risk and control. You represent risk in several committees and act as countervailing power for the executive and supervisory board and you will work closely together with the other control functions such as Compliance and Internal Audit. As the expert you will be involved in the decision-making process regarding strategic business questions.

The Head of Risk & Control reports to the Director Fund Services.



  • At least 8 years of experience with risk management within the asset management industry;
  • Management skills, strong team lead;
  • Knowledge of the AIFM Directive, additional MiFID knowledge is a pre;
  • Experience with risk governance frameworks and with setting up and monitoring risk policies and procedures;
  • Knowhow of investments in emerging markets;
  • Involvement in establishment and implementation of control framework, both business control as well as operational control (ISAE 3402);
  • Capability to report and advise to the Executive Board and Supervisory Board;
  • Self-starter, strong personality, flexible and ability to work independently;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills (contact with investors);
  • Relevant university degree;
  • Good communication skills, fluency in English both orally and in writing. Additionally, Dutch language skills are considered an advantage for this role.
